______________________________________________________________ You and I Arrives at Old Friends in Kentucky by Blood-Horse Staff in a October 28, 2011 press release You and I, winner of the 1995 Metropolitan Handicap (gr. I) and most recently a stallion in Washington, arrived Oct. 27 at Old Friends near Georgetown, Ky., where he will be pensioned. Woodstead Farm in Chehalis, Wash., where You and I most recently stood, donated the 20-year-old son of Kris S. to Old Friends. Campaigned by owner Edmund Gann and trainer Bobby Frankel, You and I, out of the Ups mare La Chaposa, won six of 16 starts including the Met Mile at age 4. He won the Cowdin Stakes (gr. II) at 2; the Riva Ridge Stakes (gr. III) in track-record time at 3; and the Brooklyn Handicap (gr. II) at 4. His career earnings were $701,235. You and I sired 15 stakes winners, most notably the five-time grade I-winning filly You. “Bobby Frankel’s legacy continues to inspire us,” said Michael Blowen, president and founder of Old Friends. “It’s an honor to have You and I permanently retired to Old Friends.” You and I originally retired in 1996 to Airdrie Stud near Midway, Ky., and then moved to Blooming Hills Inc. in Clements, Calif.
