A
Kentucky bred Son of 2005 Preakness-Belmont winner Afleet
Alex, Afleet Accompli is now a 10 year old bay gelding owned,
most recently, by Canito Racing in Puerto Rico.
He
sold for $100,000 at Keeneland’s 2012 yearling sale and
raced in the claiming ranks for Phaedrus Flights LLC at
Monmouth Park, Parx, Aqueduct, and Gulfstream before being
claimed around 2016 and relocated to Puerto Rico, where he
raced at Camarero for 39 starts (he won 9, and even placed 2nd
in the 2017 GR3 Clasico Jose de Diego Stakes) between March of
2016 and October 2019 before being retired with a suspensory
injury that ended his career. He was retired with the
Caribbean Thoroughbred
Aftercare (CTA), a sister aftercare organization that
works to retrain and rehome horses in Puerto Rico and other
islands, returning many of them to homes in the U.S. Old
Friends was contacted by CTR’s Kelley Stobie about
Afleet when it was clear he would be able to be rehomed due to
his injuries. Kelley cared for him at her own farm until space
was available at Old Friends in the fall of 2020.
In
his seven seasons on the track Afleet Accompli had 63 starts,
14 wins, 17 2nds, and 11 3rds with career earnings of
$196,310.
Claimed
numerous times in Puerto Rico running at Camarero.
